We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Audit Manager to join our Global Markets internal audit division based in Hong Kong. This strategic role will involve leading audit engagements focused on complex financial markets businesses, including sales and trading, treasury, and derivative products across asset classes. The successful candidate will contribute to strengthening controls, mitigating risk, and ensuring adherence to regulatory expectations and company policies.
You will take ownership of planning, scoping, and executing risk-based audits, evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and governance processes. You will also be expected to proactively identify emerging risks and business trends within the Global Markets environment, offering insights and data-driven solutions.
Collaboration is key; you will work closely with regional and global colleagues across risk, compliance, operations, and finance, as well as with senior management to communicate key audit findings and recommendations. This role requires outstanding analytical abilities, sound judgement, and strong leadership skills in managing a team of auditors across audit cycles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage audit engagements across Global Markets functions, from planning to reporting stages.
- Identify key risks and evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls.
- Develop a deep understanding of financial products including derivatives, structured products, and fixed income instruments.
- Prepare risk assessments and annual audit plans in collaboration with senior audit leadership.
- Maintain strong working relationships with key business stakeholders.
- Deliver high-quality audit reports that clearly articulate issues and their associated risks.
- Mentor and develop junior auditors within the department.
- Remain current on market developments, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CIA are preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in internal audit or relevant risk and controls functions, ideally with a focus on Global Markets.
- Strong technical knowledge of financial markets, products, and risks.
- Proven experience conducting large and complex audit engagements involving trading or treasury activities.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and project management capabilities.
- Experience in utilising data analytics in audit review processes is advantageous.
- Ability to operate effectively within a global and matrix environment.
