We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant Manager/Manager to join our team in Hong Kong. This role is best suited for individuals with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for assessing risk, evaluating client information, and making sound underwriting decisions in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will bring with them a comprehensive understanding of underwriting principles and excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with internal stakeholders and external clients.

As an Underwriting AM/M, you will be responsible for assessing new business proposals, renewals, and endorsements. You will evaluate risk submissions, perform detailed risk analysis, and make well-informed underwriting decisions in line with internal guidelines and regulatory frameworks. Your role will also involve supporting product development and pricing strategies, contributing to process improvements, and ensuring high standards of underwriting quality and customer service. You will be required to use your knowledge of industry-specific risk factors, market trends, and client segments to deliver sound judgement and uphold company protocols.

To be successful in this position, candidates must possess a degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, or a related discipline. A minimum of 3–5 years of relevant underwriting experience is typically required, ideally within the corporate or commercial insurance space. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent organisational skills are essential. A thorough understanding of local regulatory requirements and underwriting guidelines is a must, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Professional qualifications such as ACII or ANZIIF are advantageous but not mandatory.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a track record of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting. Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical, as the role includes negotiating terms with clients and brokers, preparing underwriting reports, and presenting risk assessments to senior management. Fluency in English is essential, and Cantonese or Mandarin language skills would be beneficial.

This is an exciting opportunity to advance your career within a reputable institution offering a competitive salary in HKD, performance incentives, and a supportive work environment in the heart of Hong Kong.
