Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Deputy Head, Regional Credit to join its Hong Kong or Singapore-based Regional Credit department. The team currently consists of around 6–7 members, including the Head of Department, senior professionals, and junior staff.
This is a senior leadership role for an experienced credit professional with strong hands-on experience in credit/lending, deal structuring, collateralised financing, bespoke financing solutions, and APAC credit transactions. The successful candidate will support the Head of Regional Credit in leading the team, evaluating complex credit opportunities, structuring financing solutions, and providing guidance and mentorship to team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Regional Credit in managing the regional credit function across APAC markets
- Lead and review credit assessment, structuring, and approval recommendations for complex credit transactions
- Take direct involvement in deal structuring, including downside protection, security package, covenant structure, recoveries, and exit considerations
- Evaluate and structure collateralised and bespoke financing solutions, including privatisation financing, cash flow financing, asset-backed financing, structured credit, and other special situation transactions
- Assess credit risks for listed companies and corporate borrowers across APAC, particularly Greater China and ASEAN
- Review financial statements, accounting concepts, cash flow projections, leverage metrics, asset quality, and borrower repayment capacity
- Analyse transaction structures including senior secured, mezzanine, structured credit, asset-backed credit, and hybrid financing
- Provide credit insights on stressed or underperforming credits, including recovery strategy and risk mitigation options
- Work closely with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure credit proposals are commercially viable while aligned with risk appetite
- Mentor and guide senior and junior team members, supporting technical credit development and knowledge transfer
- Assist in enhancing regional credit framework, underwriting standards, credit process, and risk controls
- Present credit views, recommendations, and deal analysis clearly to senior management and relevant committees
Requirements
- Minimum 15 years of hands-on credit / lending experience within banks, financial institutions, private credit, structured finance, or investment platforms
- Strong track record in direct deal structuring, not limited to credit analysis or portfolio monitoring
- Good understanding of accounting concepts, financial statement analysis, cash flow assessment, downside protection, security, and recoveries
- Experience in collateralised, bespoke, or structured financing solutions, such as privatisation financing, cash flow financing, senior secured lending, mezzanine financing, asset-backed financing, or special situations credit
- Exposure to APAC transactions, ideally across Greater China and ASEAN
- Experience dealing with listed companies in the APAC region
- Strong commercial judgment with the ability to balance deal execution and prudent credit risk management
- Proven people leadership, mentoring, or team management experience
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skill
