We are seeking an experienced AXIS Modelling Actuary to support the development, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of actuarial models within a life insurance environment. You will partner with actuarial, finance, and risk stakeholders to deliver robust modelling solutions, support valuation and reporting processes, and improve automation and data quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, code, enhance, and maintain AXIS models and associated actuarial libraries to support valuation, pricing, projections, and financial reporting.
  • Implement model changes driven by new products, assumption updates, methodology changes, and regulatory or internal requirements.
  • Perform model testing, validation, and reconciliation; investigate and resolve issues, ensuring auditability and appropriate documentation.
  • Optimise model run times and improve process efficiency through automation and best-practice coding standards.
  • Support end-to-end production runs, including controls, change management, and release management.
  • Collaborate with data and systems teams on input data specification, transformation, and integration to modelling platforms.
  • Prepare clear documentation, technical notes, and user guides for model development and ongoing support.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven, hands-on AXIS modelling experience, including coding/development and ongoing model maintenance.
  • Solid understanding of life insurance actuarial concepts (e.g., cashflow projections, reserving/valuation methodologies, assumptions and model governance).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines.
  • Experience working within controlled environments, including documentation, testing, and change control.
  • Effective communication skills, able to explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with SQL for data extraction and validation.
  • Programming/scripting exposure including VBA and/or R.
  • Advanced Excel skills (model prototyping, reconciliation, and reporting).
  • Experience with model performance tuning and automation.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Progress towards, or membership of, a recognised actuarial professional body is preferred.
